You will work remotely from Sri Lanka as the dedicated associate to one recruitment consultant in Japan. Together, you will headhunt candidates for positions that require English communication. Your research, conversations and follow-up will help the consultant progress their searches.
What you will work on
- Source potential candidates and research professional profiles.
- Build market maps and maintain organised candidate information.
- Contact candidates in English, including cold calling, and carry out initial qualification against the consultant’s brief.
- Follow up with candidates and prepare clear summaries.
- Update recruitment systems and coordinate interviews or meetings.
- Learn how recruitment consultants prioritise searches and develop candidate relationships.
What we value
Fluent spoken and written English, confidence speaking with people, ambition and attention to detail. You should be curious about businesses and careers, willing to make outbound calls, and able to organise your work remotely. We value commercial thinking, ownership and a constructive response to feedback. Japanese is not required.

Do I need to speak Japanese?
No. This role works in English and supports headhunting for positions that require English communication. Fluent spoken and written English is required.
What are the working hours?
The role works 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Sri Lanka time.
Will I be working in Japan?
No. This is a remote role based in Sri Lanka, supporting a recruitment consultant operating in Japan.
Who will I work for?
You will be employed, trained and managed by Desk Pilot. You will support one consultant at a client recruitment agency, who provides search briefs and daily task priorities.
Is this a calling role?
Candidate conversations, including outbound cold calls, are part of the role alongside research, sourcing, qualification, follow-up and coordination.
Will I receive training?
Desk Pilot will provide professional recruitment training. You will develop skills in sourcing, research, candidate communication and recruitment desk support.
Is Desk Pilot already a large team?
We are a new specialist business recruiting our first employee. You would join the founding team and help establish our working practices.
